What this covers
This policy describes the current Chomk website and the local macOS app shown in its previews. The app is in development, and the website does not currently provide a public download, accounts, payments, or a mailing-list signup.
The app’s storage monitoring is local. Visiting a hosted website involves separate technical processing, described below.
Data on your Mac
Chomk reads available disk space and the folders you allow it to inspect so it can show storage use and recorded changes. Its local data can include:
- File and folder names, paths, sizes, and filesystem metadata used for inspection and indexing.
- Recorded capacity readings, folder changes, scan information, and access gaps.
- Your warning thresholds, monitoring settings, companion nickname, selected look, and earned keepsakes.
These records are stored on your device. The current app does not include analytics, advertising tracking, or automatic uploads of your storage index or files. Monitoring does not require a Chomk account.
macOS permissions determine which folders the app can inspect. Granting wider access is your choice; declining it may leave gaps in the storage picture.
Website and hosting
This website uses locally served artwork and fonts available on your device. The page does not add analytics, advertising scripts, marketing cookies, or browser storage. Preview tabs, outfit selections, and pet interactions remain in the page’s memory and reset when you reload it.
The current private preview is hosted with OpenAI Sites. Hosting and access-control providers receive technical request information, such as your IP address, requested page, browser information, and request time, to deliver and protect the site. Private access may require OpenAI sign-in and necessary authentication cookies.
That platform processing follows the provider’s own policies, including the OpenAI Privacy Policy. Chomk does not control the provider’s authentication records or retention periods. This policy will be updated if the site’s hosting or data collection changes.
Keeping and removing data
The app keeps local records to provide history, folder comparisons, and saved preferences. You can reset the folder index or delete recorded history through the app’s settings. Those are separate actions; earned keepsakes and companion preferences are retained separately.
Uninstalling the app may leave its local support files on your Mac. Removing those files removes the associated saved records. Chomk cannot remove copies you have exported, backed up, or shared elsewhere.
Website hosting and sign-in records are retained according to the relevant provider’s policies.
Your choices and rights
You can control macOS access permissions, stop monitoring by quitting the app, remove local app records, and choose whether to export anything. We cannot remotely retrieve the storage index that stays on your Mac.
Depending on where you live and which personal information is processed, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of that information, object to or restrict processing, and complain to a privacy regulator. For information processed by the hosting or sign-in provider, use that provider’s privacy request channels.
If you choose to contact us, the message and any information you include are used to respond and handle your request. Please avoid sending private file contents or a full storage index unless a specific issue requires them.
Policy changes
We will update this page and its date when the app or website’s privacy practices change. New collection features, such as an optional signup or remote service, will be described before they are introduced.
